The Paradise Community Wellness Connection (PCWC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed to serve individuals in the Paradise, California area, including the towns of Paradise, Magalia, Sterling City, Lovelock and surrounding unincorporated areas of Butte County. Our mission integrates health and wellness for individuals, families and our environment. The goals of PCWC are to:
- Provide resources to promote and sustain wellness through education and community service.
- Promote preventive and integrative medicine by uniting conventional, complementary and alternative medicine professionals for educational purposes.
- Encourage an eco-conscious lifestyle to help build a sustainable community.
- Create an educational resource guide of integrative medicine and sustainable living.
We intend to create a "culture of wellness" by collaborating with healthcare providers, educators, local businesses and farmers, and others community organizations and residents to create a healthier, more sustainable community.
With a focus on disease prevention, integrative medicine, and sustainable living, PCWC is fostering this new approach to wellness through community education and events.
With this initiative we will focus on programs relating to healthy eating habits, the importance of exercise and school & community gardens.
Our first endeavor is to breathe new life into the garden at Paradise Elementary School. With the help of school staff, parents, area students and community volunteers, we are beginning the process to restore the grounds. We are grateful for a Community Development Block Grant from the Town of Paradise to assist with this project. More information can be found on our Living Well ...in the Garden page.
Other projects to date: PCWC has co-sponsored such events as a health expo “Family Wellness Day” with Feather River Health Center and Paradise Unified School District’s SHINE program, and obtained a grant to provide a series of “Feelin’ Good Wellness Days” with the Paradise Grange.
